Marius Mannes (cello, °1993) being the son of a pianist and a cellist, music runs in his blood. At the age of 3 Marius took up playing the cello under the careful eye of his father, Hans Mannes. Later on he took lessons from Joost Cuypers at the Wijnegem academy of music where he graduated summa cum laude. At the age of 17 he obtained a gold medal for his performance of the cello concerto in A, by C. Saint Saens.
Mannes completed his secondary education at Kunsthumaniora Antwerp where he was taught by Ann Van Hecke and was a student of Justus Grimm at the Conservatory of Antwerp. Furthermore he attended masterclasses with a number of renowned cellists such as Jeroen Reuling, Olsi Leka, David Cohen, Pietro Serafin, Johannes Burghoff and Bernard Woltèche. From childhood on, Marius has been on stage together with his brother, pianist Michael Mannes. They undertook performances in Poland and France.

Currently Mannes is mainly active as a soloist. He is co-founder of, and co- composer with Furua, the latest project by Soetkin Baptist.
